Balloon Wheel Maintenance - Proper Inflation vs. Incorrect Inflation
Переглядів 7 тис.3 роки тому
www.glampinlife.com Review of the difference between a balloon wheel that has had too much air vs. a balloon wheel that has been inflated and maintained correctly. All balloon wheels will stretch with too much air pressure, deforming the design of the wheel. You can not fix this by simply letting the air pressure out of the wheel, it's permanently damaged. NEVER put max air pressure in a balloo...

Great video. I’m going to be using my new wheels soon (just bought them). After I inflate for the first time should I let them sit overnight before putting them on my cart? How do you know when you need to add more air later?
You can put them on your cart right away. The sitting them overnight or out in the sun is to help the material relax and smooth out. They are a little lumpy looking at first but that works itself out. As long as there isn't so much weight in the cart that the black rims aren't touching the ground, you are good. I take both hands and grip the wheel so both my thumbs are in the middle of the tire and I can push in about 1/4" - 1/2"
I hope i did mine right lol
As long as you can push them in with your thumb, you should be good
Ill be buying one. Always windy along the outer banks.
We feel like you're making a great choice!
@@Glampinlife I thought you might. 😁
Thanks for this video 👍👍 not much exp. with balloon sand tires, this vid excellent!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Good to know thanks
You bet
I overinflated my tire for less than 15 minutes I didn't use it at all I turned on this video and took the air out My question is do you think by just over inflating it for less than let's say 15-20 minutes without using it and putting pressure on it without the wheels being in the suns heat do you think I ruin the wheel by just over inflating it initially?
Can't say for sure without seeing them, but you probably haven't ruined them. That only happens if the material stretches unevenly making it a cone head or developing a large lump.
I doubt it also they look fine thank you for getting back to me though
How does the umbrella get anchored into the sand ?
Our umbrellas have integrated sand screws in them.
This was SO helpful!! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Just had this happen with the same exact tires. The tires started to rub the bottom of my cart and I thought it was the bushing or bearing getting loose. I was also afraid the tires would come off the bead as I was on the beach, so I put more air in them. The heat definitely over inflated them the first time I used it. $200 lesson. I didn't realize how little air they needed.
The reason they can squat so much, unlike a car tire, is there is no bead. It's the same design as an inner liner, it's a completely sealed tire. If you had to purchase a new set of tires from us and didn't get a coupon code to do so, shoot us an email so I can take care of that. If you need to purchase a new set, reach out to us first.
Replace your springs.
Thanks ! I did as you have done and after a couple of times of getting chain on inside of Anderson pipe braces instead of on outside I reversed the way you show and leave chain attached to b & w hitch bed spring loaded brackets in bed and attach chain to the large eye bolts on trailer .
Glad it helped
I have the same steps and there. Is no fuse either as the diagram says
What would fit a sea striker beach cart the best??
What are the inside dimensions of your cart?
I just bought a cart 2nd hand off Marketplace and these tires have been WAY over inflated. So much that the 16 inch wheels are now 20 inch wheels. I didnt pay no mind to it because it's my 1st cart and didn't know any better and they are surprisingly still fairly true. My question is, does a rounded profile tire push/pull more difficult than the square profile tire ? I havent had a chance to get it in the sand yet.
No, either type profile will work fine in the sand. The issue is most of the time overinflated tires will stretch differently, causing bulges. Then the cart bounces around.
Where you you get that wheel ?

Hi there you have a link where you can purchase the 6″ Heavy Duty Swivel Wheel, Thanks
www.glampinlife.com/shop/beach-carts/beach-cart-accessories/6in-heavy-duty-swivel-wheel/
Buying 3 of the steel. I’m in Austin,Tx and headed to the beach so looking for to using these. Thanks for the vid, diffidently helped my purchase decision.
Glad to help
After you have over inflated your tire and it is out of round can it be repaired or does it have to be replaced? Thanks
You can try to let the air out to where it should be but you'll still notice a little bit of a lump, just depends on how bad you've stretched the material. Any brand balloon wheel, once the material is stretched out, it does not shrink back. Most of the time you just have to replace them, but again that just depends on how bad they were stretched out. They do not stretch evenly, they turn into a conehead/egg shaped wheel.
I didn’t see a fuse either
Thank you, its so difficult to figure out what pressure u already pumped in, cuz pressure gauge doesnt show anything
It’s more of a feel, you don’t even need 1psi in balloon wheels. You just need enough to start to fill them out.
Now my beach wheels look like the same on your video, what S the solutions to make it even?
What are you trying to make even?
I'd like to know how to remove air from these tires. Pushing the stem in doesn't work...
If pushing on the tire to force air out while pushing on the valve stem, you can just remove the valve stem all together.
@@Glampinlife Thanks!
Right like what Is your company name where is your site??
www.glampinlife.com
Where can I get one
On our website, www.glampinlife.com
I need a liner for my Berkley Jumbo cart. The original liner was gnawed by rats. So I was wondering if you can make me a liner for it.
No, we do not make custom liners. Our liner comes in 3 lengths. 38”, 42” and 45”
perfect for small jobs in the garage
When you unhitch do you ever have a problem of the trailer bouncing forward?
No it may move a little one way but never more than .5”
What else could you ask for with a beach umbrella... built for windy days, won't rust and is a large canopy to provide lots of shade.
One of the best beach umbrellas for windy conditions on the market. Also won't rust like most beach umbrellas. You can see it here: www.glampinlife.com/shop/beach-carts/beach-cart-accessories/8-beach-umbrella-xl/
Do you know if the GCI outdoor rocking sport chairs can be hauled on this when folded up? And if so - how many at a time? Would you recommend this for non-beach use as well or steer clear from?
Hey Angie, sorry for the delay as we did not see your comment. Our cart will haul up to 200lbs so those chairs wouldn't be a problem. The amount of chairs just depends on what you have in the cart to be able to stack them up and/or carry on the rear chair racks. This cart can be used anywhere - a lot of people use the cart at the beach and for sporting events. We use ours at soccer games and to the neighborhood pool.
Is it really that easy to pull on dense sand I see there’s a man pulling it, but what about a petite woman?
Yes! We have a video posted with our 10 year old daughter at the time pulling it. We have a lot of older couples that use our carts. Balloon wheels are the best in the sand, there isn't anything better (other than powered tracks like a tank)
Love this cart! At first when I saw the price I was like "wow that's very expensive". However after googling "balloon wheel beach carts" I soon realized that this cart is fairly priced and the utility of it is unmatched. My wife wants me to buy one.
How much torque on the bolts is recommended?
How does this fold up?
It doesn’t fold. We sell a folding beach cart but different style cart. This one you can take the chair racks, handlebar front leg and wheels off with pin clips. The frame of the cart that you see in this video doesn’t fold.
@@Glampinlife I just ordered the Ultimate Beach Cart XL, it looks nice. I assume that the racks/handlebar/wheels will all fit inside the cart when removed?
@@szinski that is correct!
I noticed you're using a morryde pin box with the Anderson hitch. I have the same set up but the morryde is clunking really bad and slides violently when braking around a corner...the r.v mechanic gold me morryde pin boxes cannot be used with morryde...have you experienced any problems like This? Thanks....mike
Mike Champlain we have never experienced anything like that at all. I’m not sure what the difference would be with the hitch you are using as there is still the same pressure on the pin box - but I’m not expert on that. I’d ask the mechanic (if you haven’t already) what causes the difference to make it matter.
Where did you get the black steel Cone for your adapter?
It was an accessory you could add to the adapter, we purchased off of Amazon. I believe what they offer now is of a plastic material.
Hello new friend. I recently changed to the Andersen. It works well for my needs.
This is the set up I use and love it
Is your truck 250
Great Video, thanks for showing......
Nice video thank you for sharing.
Good start, but why wouldn't you include picture of chains fully hooked up and best way to orient them around the ultimate hitch in the bed of the truck.
I drop the chains straight down to the spring loaded U-bolts to hook them up. Others may do it a little differently based on their setup.
Thank you for your quick reply

Thank you.

Ft. Knox locks makes a patented coupler lock for the Andersen ultimate, super heavy duty
What length bed is that? Thanks.
6'6" - it's a 2011 F250 6.7 Turbo Diesel Crew Cab
Good job, I liked seeing how it hooks up and detaches on uneven ground. I am leaning towards buying this now, over a regular 5th wheel hitch. I just need to find out what it takes to mount it in a Ram 3500 dually, whether it hooks up to the puck system or if I need to drill and mount it.
Brent Davies I'd just contact Andersen directly and they will let you know what your options are.
What size bed is on your truck? I’m purchasing a GMC Denali 3500 with a standard bed. Will the Andersen Ultimate work in a standard length bed?
I have a 2011 F-250 Crew Cab with a short bed - 6.75 ft. This hitch is designed for short bed trucks
Did you buy a stabilizer tripod with this setup? At first glance I can't tell which would work with the Andersen ball receiver instead of the standard kingpin.
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking... a tripod that you use when camping to add support to the nose of the 5th to stabilize it better? When you buy the Andersen 5th wheel adapter mount, it comes with the block that mounts to your kingpin and the hitch itself (you can see in the bed of my truck).
Glampin' Life yes, I have a new Andersen hitch and now want to buy a stabilizer tripod to mount under the Andersen receiver on the trailer to stabilize it while its parked. Wondering if you had a recommendation. Most I am seeing online are for standard king pin connection, not the ball receiver connection as Andersen hitches have. Thanks!
Gotchya, sorry for the confusion :) This is the one I use and the only complaint is some of the places we camp, the concrete pads are flat in the middle but go down for drainage in the front and back, so sometimes I have to put leveling blocks under the tripod. Here's a link to it on Amazon: amzn.to/2m23x24 I started by searching for Gooseneck Tripod's to see what options were out there.
Glampin' Life Excellent, thanks. I measured from ground to receiver and it was about 44 - 45 inches. If this tripod works at that height I will probably buy it.
I love the strip while watching fireworks and it will be a dark day when no one is at the strip
Can you provide any feedback on how the Anderson hitch works with your morryde king pin? I currently have this set up and seem to get a back-and-forth push and pull when traveling up hill, I feel like it stems from the morryde system…?
Michael Williams that chucking motion where it quickly throws you forwards and backwards. I notice on worn out pavement. I've asked around about that and have been told by quite a few that's even worse with a traditional 5th wheel hitch because it has a little more play.
I have a 6.5 foot bed Chevy HD and this ripped up my railings in the bed and smashed my cab. Should I raise up the ball a little higher to avoid the railings contact? Your hitch looks like it sits well below the edge of the bed rails too.
Yes but I'd also check to see how your king pin box is setup, that's adjustable as well.
